Sophia Grace: a rant

I am sure that most of you are familiar with Sophia Grace (and Rosie). In case you aren't, they are the two little British sisters who became famous on youtube for singing Nicki Minaj's song Super Bass.

If you haven't seen it, this is the video:

When I first saw this, I thought to myself, wow the little brunette has some legit talent. The little blonde, well, not so much. She functions pretty much solely as Sophia's wingwoman. Adorable, definitely prettier, but significantly out-shined in the talent department.

The video exploded in popularity, and I thought that maybe Parker would enjoy it. He seems to enjoy little girls for some reason (I think because every encounter he has had with them involves him being treated like a doll), so I figured he might get a kick out of the video.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

Parker quickly escalated from the boo boo lip to tornado siren wail. He hated Sophia Grace and Rosie. I couldn't figure out why.

Then I saw these two on the Ellen show, and realized that Parker is just smarter than I am...and apparently a better judge of character when it comes to first impressions.

First off, let me say, I LOVE ELLEN DEGENERES. Meeting her is on my bucket list.

Ellen does have her flaws though, like all of us. She love love LOVES these little girls. But Ellen doesn't have the insight that Parker has.

Sophia Grace is crazy obnoxious. ***Lord forgive me for poking fun at an innocent little girl, but holy geez. When I saw her on Ellen, I had a vivid flashback to Tom Cruise on Oprah, and thought to myself, holy shit...Sophia Grace is Tom Cruise's illegitimate love child. She has his manic tendencies, random bouts of scream-fests, inability to sit still, and uncanny ability to suck you in with her indisputable talents.

If you haven't seen these two on Ellen, I'll do you a "favor" and post the video. Prepare yourself for the world's most annoying, self-centered, tutu-wearing brat.

Now, let's focus our attention on Rosie for just a second. Poor, adorable, dumb-as-dirt Rosie. Please stop perpetuating every stereotype out there for blonde girls. Do you have a brain? Do you have your own thoughts? Do you have to look at Sophia Grace for permission to talk? Do you need Sophia to tell you what to say? I'd have her evaluated for "the spectrum"...if you know what I mean. I can't wait for the day she realizes how much she actually despises Sophia. Then they can switch from the Ellen show to the Jerry Springer show.

All I know is, Parker knew it all along, from the moment he first set his eyes on her. Ellen and I didn't see it coming.

It's girls like these two that make me happy I had a boy. And it's karma from this post that let's me know that my next baby will probably be a girl, just like Sophia Grace (except probably without the musical talent and twice the obnoxiousness).

***This post is just for fun. I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings here, or get readers all riled up and angry. Don't take it too seriously!

  1. Hahaha I love your disclaimers. You're allowed to have opinions, my dear! But yes, the blogging world is a snarky one and undoubtedly, someone will take this too seriously. Assholes.

I feel the same way Parker does. That one girl has some talent, but I really don't understand why the package duo is famous. And outside of the talent, she just seems obnoxious and I really don't understand this viral obsession with them. Child stars in general make me uncomfortable. Sure, they're necessary to our entertainment industries, but it just doesn't seem like the most realistic environment to grow up in.

  2. I just got home from work, and was about an hour behind real time on my DVR. It gave me the opportunity to watch the Ellen show for the first time ever. Just saw these girls for the first time. I had never heard of them. I couldn't watch it. I kept wondering what they were going to be like in 20 years. Heck even 5. Spoiled, annoying, and obnoxious... Its not their fault though. Besides their parents, the fans that have created this insanity can only be board, think its funny, or crazy. Just now on ellen they talked about pink and blue ferries that come out of their openings... WTF is that? I am no moralist. Totally live and let live, but niki minaj? How many times have their parents had to explain what she means when she regularly says " pop my pussy" or raps about her ass, among other things. Oh well, just venting. Thought that shit was embarasing and strange.

    1. I totally agree. I think their parents will do absolutely anything for their girls to gain publicity and fame. It's sad. And I am with you about not being a moralist....to each his or her own...but this applies to competent adults, not little children.

  3. Go back to your poop. You're so ridiculous. Now you have 4 comments. Only 999,999,996 away from the brats. Good Luck loser.

  4. FINALLY someone who gets me!! They just make me feel sick, and I was watching the teen choice awards, and when Ellen presented them the award, I was furious because the other nominees deserved it so much more. And the way Ellen spoils them is terrible. I mean, one time on the show was enough, but she keeps bringing them on, and giving them stuff, which other kids deserve way more.

  5. I am a 16 year old girl, and with stereotypes one would think I would absolutely adore them. However, I turn the TV off as soon as their names are even MENTIONED because I can't stand to see them or hear them, for that matter!! I don't ever want to meet them or come across them in 10 years!!! They are so bratty, self-centered, spoiled, obnoxious, terribly annoying (excuse me, but I am a nice girl who wants to punch Sofia grace in the nose every time I see her), etc etc etc... I could go on forever...

  6. Yeah, the girls are annoying. Pardon me, GIRL. Sophia Grace is... well, I don't know what's wrong with her. She's little, yes, but 8-year-olds DON'T act like they are 3. So I agree with you on that. But Rosie is a sweet little girl and doesn't act like a "dumb blond". She acts like a regular little kid--shy and quiet. And she as to deal with SOPHIA overshadowing her. By the way, since the girl is FIVE, you can't call her dumb. That's like calling a 7 year old stupid because they don't know algebra. And Ellen spoils them A LOT! Like, every show they get something new--new and extravagant. I really wish Ellen would instead treat kids that are less fortunate (maybe send a few gifts to Africa, for instance). But we can't complain about it. What's done is done. The world know who they are. What really bothers me though is that, if a CHILD sings, or does anything really well, they are considered some sort of prodigy and everyone likes them. If a TEENAGER or an adult did it, it'd be like "Nah :\ Same old, same old." Annoying. A person can't control their age. Fact is, these little girls are fawned over because they are 5 and 8 and Sophia can sing. Mostly it's their age. If they were 16 and did a cover, for instance, and put it on youtube, they'd get a lot of compliments, but they'd never become famous.

  7. Also, I forgot to add: In the Hunger Games world, these children would be known as the ultimate brats because they keep getting things that they don't deserve (just for being "cute") and poor people get nothing. I hate to break it to everyone but... they're CAPITOL CHILDREN!!!!! D:

  8. I agree with your issues of spoiling Sophia and Rosie. I do not feel these little girls should be on television like this and spoiled in this way. However, this is where my agreement ends.

Shame on you for calling a little girl dumb as dirt and then referring to the "spectrum." You are going to be a doctor, so I'd think you would have more sensitivity than this. She is a shy little child in a very strange environment, with another little girl who can take the stage easily (also behaving like a little girl.). Quiet does not mean dumb, nor does the spectrum.

For the record, I do not have children. This isn't a personal issue to me, and yet I was offended.

  9. Also - posts for fun still have power. That is no excuse. Try that as an excuse when someone is being bullied online. "Just for fun" is irresponsible. It does not give you a pass.

I love Ellen as well, and really hope these girls are okay in the future.

    1. Okay, she did not mean to insult anyone, she was just expressing an opinion, and I share the same views. It is not bullying at all, and "just for fun" was just a way of saying it in a casual, polite way

    2. You are way too sensitive for the internet....Just for fun means just that. This is not bullying its the writers opinion.
In the future i wouldnt be surprised if Sophia has some type of Autism.

  10. Sophia Grace is that obnoxious little brat whose doting grandma has her show off to hapless visitors in the parlor on Sunday. Talented? Come on, she's a novelty act who has already worn her welcome thin. Rosie, on the other hand, is a sweet, beautiful child whose winsome shyness is irresistible, just like a normal little one should be. I hope the day will come when Ellen, or some other adult with a grain of sense, will cause Sophia Grace to shut her pie hole and allow Rosie a word in edgewise. I suggest that, as Sophia Grace gets older and people find her less and less cute, she may come to resemble Baby Jane Hudson.

  11. I agree with the spoiling, Ellen has got to stop spoiling these two with trips here there and everywhere, expensive gifts etc. I like Rosie but Sophia Grace pisses me off and I think they've had there time, they don't need to be on the show every bloody week. Do they even live in the USA? Or are they being flown over every time from the UK courtesy of Ellen?

I have been off work for a month now and do watch Ellen most days, enjoy it apart from the endless ear piercing screaming of the audience every 10 seconds, and all the free stuff they get. It's too much, the show must have way too much money think of something better to do with it than giving it to money hungry audience who act all surprised even though that's what theyre there for. Makes me sick.

  12. Did you just call a 5 year old girl 'dumb as dirt'? Did you just liken autism to stupidity? And you are a mother? Wow, good luck to your son in developing healthy attitudes towards women. Misogyny can be and is practiced by women you know. Please grow up, for your son's sake and all the women he comes into contact with.

    1. Well she isn't dumb, but she defnitely isn't smart. Just cause shes 5 doesn't make it incorrect.

    2. It is both shocking and appalling that someone saw fit to grant you admission to medical school. It is rich that you have the audacity to question the intelligence of an innocent, exploited child. Some serious self-criticism is in order.

  13. YES YES YES!!!! Every time I hear that screechy little voice I want to scoop my eardrums out with a spork!!! I also love Ellen but am tired of seeing these two on the show and will turn the channel if they are on.

  14. I agree but Rosie isn't dumb, she is just quite, shy and like any little girl below the age of 7 says whats on her mind.

  16. I stopped watching Ellen's show once she started putting these two on (not to mention tons of other talentless people who don't deserve to be on her stage.) I don't understand her fixation with these spoiled brats and her inability to see how they repel so many viewers. Whatever happened to kids being kids? The new music video has them acting like teenage trollops. And Sophia Grace apparently just landed the part of Red Riding Hood in the movie version of "Into the Woods." Gaaaaaaaaag me.

  19. I wrote to Sophia's mother once nice has I can be asking to stop with this lame act that she is letting her child to put on and what I got back was nothing but a rude replay. I don't know what she thought she was going to get out of it with being a ass hole but she prove me right that they are very lame and need to be put in their place. Now I know why her kids behave so stupid Sophia learn it from her mother

  22. I have to say Sophia Grace gets too much attention. She just make me so mad sometimes, I don't know why she just is like UGH! She's being influenced by too many celebs and I am worried about her she is 11 and still believes in fairys and mermaids and wears tutus. I mean, 11!?!?! Im sorry I like rage sometimes but I still can't believe it. SHE JUST GETS ME THE WRONG WAY I JUST HATE IT ITS SO ANNOYING I WANT TO SCOOP MY EYES OUT WHEN I SEE HER. I feel SOOOO bad for Rosie because she doesn't get any of the spotlight and attention its like Sophia is just pushing her away and getting all the spotlight to herself. ITS MAKES ME SO ANGRY I AM RAGING!!!!!!!!!!!

  23. Maybe it's boys who can judge her better? Because I never liked her either. And I thought not so much that Rosie needs Sophia's permission to speak or anything, but rather Sophia is so incredibly dominating and selfish that Rosie just never gets a word in...

  24. I totally agree! Those girls annoy the CRAP out of me!!! I don't see how you get famous by singing a song way off pitch and way off key, and not even doing it good!

  25. Their screaming in the DVD cemented the fact that I will never buy my daughter any of their crap again. Very annoying.

  26. Watching Ellen, Yony and Zony were WAY cuter.

  27. Sophia Grace may have been a little 'irritating' in her younger years, but if you notice right now she has calmed a bit and has become more indipendant and mature. In my opinion, Sophia wasn't stealing Rosie's spotlight because as cute as Rosie is, she was just more on the shy side and since she's so close to Sophia, Sophia probably didn't want to be famous on her own, as she was only 8. Now that Rosie has become more outgoing, they could probably start taking their careers alone, if not, then they probably prefer each other as a pair than competition. Trust me, they aren't as 'loud and annoying' as you think they are, they may still do it but so do a lot of other 11 and 8 year olds. They're average, if you ask me.
